At Village Walk for Cancer Research, our mission is to improve the lives of those in need by providing essential services and support to our communities. We believe that everyone deserves access to basic necessities such as food, shelter, and healthcare. The Village Walk for Cancer Research (WFCR) has raised over $900,000 in support of cancer research projects at UAMS and CHI St. Vincent. Programs like the "Seeds of Science" program fund new research to understand how cancers form and grow, and find ways of eliminating them.
No one should have to go through cancer treatments alone. Cancer treatments are expensive and take time (both healing and treatment time). There are many support programs to help those who might otherwise not be able to afford treatments or transportation to/from treatments. We have provided funding to organizations like Genesis "Our Promise" Foundation and the American Cancer Society that have programs that support cancer patients.
Most cancers, if caught early, are very treatable and even cured. Cancer screenings are the key to detecting cancers early before there are symptoms. With your generous support, we have provided funding for lung cancer screenings at CARTI and support mobile screening events like UAMS "Mammogram Van" that goes to rural areas.
